Family lines of Jesus Christ according to

The Gospels of Matthew and Luke

The generations of Jesus Christ are given both in Matthew and in Luke. Both lines come through King David, but through two different sons of his. The generations given in Matthew are through David’s son Solomon up until Jacob – the father of Joseph, who became the husband of the supernaturally conceived virgin Mary. The generations given in Luke are through David’s son Nathan (2 Samuel 5:14) up until Heli – the father of Mary.

Generations of Jesus Christ according to Matthew

1 THE book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham. 2 Abraham begat Isaac; and Isaac begat Jacob; and Jacob begat Judas and his brethren; 3 And Judas begat Phares and Zara of Thamar; and Phares begat Esrom; and Esrom begat Aram; 4 And Aram begat Aminadab; and Aminadab begat Naasson; and Naasson begat Salmon; (Matthew)
